Cerf: Video ads will become more interactive

26th September 2008

The next decade will see video ads become more interactive and informative, it has been claimed.

According to Google chief evangelist and father of the web Vint Cerf, the video sector will eventually evolve to allow consumers to better control the ads they see and the data they derive from them.

This could see users select certain sections of a clip and view product data and related information, he explained in a post on the Official Google Blog.

"From its largely programmed, scheduled and streamed delivery today, video will become an interactive medium in which the choice of content and advertising will be under consumer control," Mr Cerf said.

Google is currently celebrating its tenth year since it was founded and has commissioned a series of blog posts predicting how the web will change in the next decade as a result.

These include those relating to mobile, search, video and social media, among others.
