Between September 1st and September 7th the 'Thank You' page for the new Google Chrome web browser received 1.933 million individual visits from people in the US alone, research has revealed.
Nielsen Online found the site was particularly popular among men, who made up 73 per cent of the hits.
Jon Stewart, the analyst's technology and search research director, suggested that the popularity of Chrome demonstrates just how much interest Google is able to garner through any of its actions.
"The interest in all things Google was apparent in the online discussion surrounding the somewhat unexpected Chrome launch," he remarked, adding that just under one per cent of all internet discussions taking place contained mention of the browser on September 2nd.
Furthermore, approximately 1.4 per cent of US internet users visited the page, Nielsen discovered.
Google.com had a 5.97 per cent share of the US internet usage market in August, according to Hitwise.
