A redesigned MySpace is to incorporate a more efficient search function, it has emerged.
The social networking website is to begin the first phase of a global redesign on Wednesday, beginning a process that will integrate a new approach to banner ads and improved profile-editing tools.
MySpace wants to draw more members to the site and reach a wider demographic, as well as engage current users.
President and co-founder Tom Anderson commented that the web hub wants to broaden its appeal to consumers outside the teen and young adult groups.
"We were wondering how we can expand our market and appeal to new people. We looked at some of the reasons why someone might not use MySpace," Mr Anderson said.
Direct marketing has become a more pervasive presence in the online advertising sector as the internet has advanced, according to Lisa Turner, marketing director of the Institute of Direct Marketing.
