OpenSocial, Google's social networking platform launched earlier this week, has so far announced it will be collaborating with Bebo, LinkedIn, Orkut and now News Corp's MySpace.
The new programme by Google allows developers to create applications with a single code for all social networking sites that sign up, therefore cutting costs.
MySpace cofounder Chris DeWolfe said: "OpenSocial is going to become the defacto standard for developers instantly out of the gate."
Following Microsoft's recent win over Google for a stake in Facebook, the industry is waiting to hear whether Facebook will join OpenSocial.
Google chief executive Eric Schmidt said that it was not excluding anyone and it was inviting many more companies to sign up, Business Week reports.
According to Nielsen Online, Facebook was the social networking leader with 6.5 million UK users during August. MySpace followed with 6.4 million members and Bebo with 4.4 million.
