Fastest rising search queries headed by Google Chrome

8th September 2008

Google Chrome has come top of a list of the fastest rising search terms in the UK for the week ending September 6th.

Compiled by Hitwise, the statistics also showed that 'man city', 'bestival' and 'environment agency' made up the rest of the top four fastest moving terms for the period.

Google Chrome was launched on September 2nd and saw traffic to its main page peak on the following day, Hitwise UK research director Robin Goad said on his blog.

And the average amount of time spent on the Chrome site continued to increase until September 5th, reaching two minutes and 47 seconds, he noted.

"A higher average time spend implies more people downloading the application and it seems likely many of the people downloading the app on the 5th were people who’d already visited earlier in the week," Mr Goad stated.

Net Applications data currently suggests that Google holds a browser market share of between one and two per cent, with Internet Explorer and Firefox still occupying the top two positions.
