It is important to begin online marketing activities with basics such as search engine optimisation (SEO), according to one expert.
Researching how to begin with search engine marketing and potentially bringing in outside help can be a significant boon for businesses looking to enhance their online profiles, E-consultancy editor-in-chief Chris Lake stated.
He advised those with smaller marketing budgets to look at SEO and potentially consider other media such as blogs and videos, which can provide good publicity if they gain traction on websites like YouTube, Digg and Yahoo! Buzz.
"Read up on how to make your site search engine-friendly and, if you can afford it, look at employing a search agency or a search expert in-house," Mr Lake explained.
Search marketers are increasingly considering the benefits of video production, according to a poll conducted by the US-based Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation earlier this year.
