B2B sites 'can benefit from SEO'

26th August 2008

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a must for companies operating in the online business-to-business (B2B) field, it has been claimed.

Making good use of SEO can help such organisations to attract those looking for the very products and services they offer, Phil Hare of SmartPath told SmartCompany.com.au.

He also recommended that businesses create engaging content and emphasise how their offerings can help customers on the homepage.

In addition, a professional look and feel can add much to the website and help potential clients to build confidence in the company, Mr Hare said, going on to add that using content such as informative whitepapers can also be helpful.

"[Decision-makers have] seen the sell a thousand times before, but if you can send information to a decision-maker that is relevant, informative and helps them carry out their work better, they'll accept it," he commented.

According to JupiterResearch figures reported by the Wall Street Journal, fewer than four in ten small businesses where managers surf the web at least once every month have a website.
