Google.com will now feature the Google Suggest tool by default, it has been announced.
The Google Suggest feature offers real-time suggestions for specific queries and the number of hits each of these possibilities comes up with, according to an Official Google Blog post.
Users already make use of the tool in applications such as the Google Toolbar, Google Maps and Firefox. The suggestions can correct misspellings and help those uncertain of the specific term they need to use.
By implementing Google Suggest on the search engine's homepage, it is hoped that more users will be able save time using the tool, Google product manager Jennifer Liu said.
She commented: "We find that by providing suggestions upfront, we can help people search more efficiently and conveniently."
Similar offerings are already in place on the Yahoo! and Cuil search engines, among others. Google Suggest was originally developed in 2004.
