Google will not be placing ads on its homepage in the future, according to chief executive of the company Eric Schmidt.
Mr Schmidt said on the Mad Money with Jim Cramer television show earlier this week that the company is unlikely to deploy ads on the Google search homepage at any time, despite the fact that the company would make billions of dollars from the enterprise.
He said that users would not take to the idea and instead focused on the moneymaking opportunities presented by the mobile platform, going so far as to say that mobile ads will represent the bulk of Google's ad revenues in the future.
"You carry your phone everywhere - it knows all about you. We can do a very, very targeted ad. Over time, we will make more money for mobile advertising," Mr Schmidt stated.
Apple recently overtook Google as the Silicon Valley company with the highest market capitalisation, thanks in part to its success with the iPhone and a slump in online ads for Google.
