Websites falling into the leisure category - including films, travel and gaming - were the most visited sites among US internet users last month, comScore has revealed.
Publishing its monthly report on web trends in the country, the company said that these websites proved to be particularly popular in June, despite a drop in the average amount of time spent online.
"Americans have begun to enjoy their summer vacations and appear to be spending less time online and more time basking in the sun," remarked Jack Flanagan of comScore.
"And when they are online, they spend more time engaged in leisure-related activities."
The study also highlighted AOL's Platform-A as the advertising business with the greatest reach in June, while Google sites emerged as the most visited website overall.
This last statistic may come as no surprise following recent reports from the likes of comScore, Hitwise and Nielsen Online showing that the search engine accounted for the majority of online queries in the US last month.
