Yahoo! gears up for Olympics

30th June 2008

Yahoo! has revealed its plans for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games in August.

The company will launch a website to provide a wide range of Olympics-related content over the summer, featuring editorials and opinions from former Olympic medal winners and a host of news, images and videos.

A mobile-specific website will also be launched to help users get updates on the go, while shortcuts related to the event will appear on Yahoo! search pages.

"Whether on the computer or on the go, Yahoo! will give fans timely and compelling coverage of this year's games," remarked James Pitaro, general manger of Yahoo! Sports.

Yahoo!, along with Google, the AOL Platform-A operation and Microsoft, recently signed up to work with Publicis Group on a new open source digital marketing platform.

The scheme will see buyers able to purchase media for a variety of portals in a single buy, rather than working with each one separately.
