The basics of search engine optimisation (SEO) should not be overlooked when looking to improve a site's performance on search engines such as Google, according to the editor of Search Engine Journal.
Loren Baker stated that while aspects such as organic inbound links remain important for websites, it is important to remember other SEO basics, such as using keywords throughout the page and ensuring that text is not hidden within images, where it cannot be picked up by search engines.
He added that duplicate titles, description tags and broken pages are also to be avoided and asserted that headers used properly on the home page may also be beneficial in boosting search engine rankings.
Meanwhile, Blog Marketing Journal reported this week that a well-written blog featuring keywords can help enhance a site's SEO, particularly when it is updated on a regular basis.
The publication explained that as search engines "love fresh content", a blog could be ideal for both improving search rankings and increasing the communication link between companies and consumers.
