There is no need to pay for a search engine to display a website, it has been reported.
According to the American Chronicle, although search engine optimisation (SEO) is time consuming and complex, it is a cost-free way of advertising on the internet.
The source explains that SEO is simply a term for improving a website according to search engine algorithms.
By correctly following the criteria, a website should naturally appear high on results for a particular term, it adds.
"The results which come through ethical search engine optimisation will be reliable and stable for a long period if you will be updating your website from time to time according to the search engines algorithms," the source states.
However, businesses can also use pay-per-click advertising, it continues, claiming that this is the "most demanding" internet marketing technique.
Firms can buy particular keyphrases relating to their product or service, in return for a search engine ranking them highly within its sponsored listings.
According to eMarketer, online advertising will pass £3 billion in the UK this year.
