Organic search optimisation is more effective than pay-per-click campaigns, it has been argued.
According to south-west Florida newspaper the Herald Tribune, pay-per-clicks can often attract competitors and spammers, rather than real customers.
"Search engine optimisation (SEO) is simply a way of building and structuring a website to give it the best possible placement under specific target phrases," commented Elizabeth Blair, director of internet services for Odato Marketing Group.
Ms Blair recommended that companies educate themselves on SEO by asking a lot of questions to the firm who is optimising their website.
Ed Zimmer, founder of The Entrepreneur Network, told the newspaper that he relies on quality content for high search rankings, claiming that covering a wide variety of topics on his site has been a successful strategy for him.
However, Jimsun Lui, SEO director at Agog Digital Marketing Strategy recently told PromotionWorld.com that pay-per-click can be effectively combined with SEO in order to create a wide-reaching marketing campaign.
