2nd January 2008

Search engine optimisation (SEO) was predicted to be a significant trend in advertising in 2008 by 42 per cent of marketing executives, according to a new survey.

The research, conducted by Anderson Analytics, surveyed 1,700 members of its Marketing Executives Network Group (MENG) and found that 60 per cent think marketing basics such as brand loyalty and customer satisfaction will be a popular industry trend, reports MediaPost.

Eco-friendly marketing is also tipped to be an important new concept, with 32 per cent claiming Green Marketing is the new buzzword in the industry.

Richard Guha, chairman of MENG, said: "This is the first of a series of studies by MENG which will make a major contribution to the growing effectiveness of marketing."

Commenting in his Search Engine Marketing blog, Kent Lewis, owner of search engine marketing firm Anvil Media, said that every aspect of search engine marketing will continue to grow throughout 2008, with companies spending more on SEO and advertising on social networking sites.
