31st December 2007

Online advertising videos are increasing in popularity but they must be created with search engine optimisation (SEO) in mind to be successful, it has been claimed.

Reported by news provider 4Hoteliers, Benu Aggarwal, founder and president of Milestone Internet Marketing, reported that online videos are considered the third most effective medium of online advertising by US ad executives.

Mr Aggarwal explained that unless a web users knows the exact address for an advertising video, they will be unable to find it if it does not appear on search engine's results.

"More and more newspaper and conference sites are adapting to the multimedia challenge by adding video to their websites," he said. "Video search results are blending in to the main universal search."

To ensure a video appears highly on search engine results pages, the video must be equipped with adequate keywords, surrounded by unique content and submitted to the top engines such as Google and Yahoo!, he added.

The Internet Advertising Bureau has recommended that businesses seek help with SEO, in order to increase a firm's online presence.
