Clear and simple rules to improve SEO, claims expert

There are three ways to cheaply improve a website's search engine ranking, according to one internet consultant.

Mark Bonnett, an e-Business consultant at the National B2B Centre, explained that applying basic search engine optimisation techniques can result in better search engine ranking, increased business, new customers and a greater web presence.

Citing a one-day A4U Expo forum on search engine strategies, he advised that businesses pay attention to search engine optimisation when creating a title for every page on the website.

Keeping content clear and well-written with a number of key phrases relating to the firm will enable search engines to pick up on the website easily, he added.

Building links between a company's site and other relevant web pages will increase the traffic to a business, Mr Bonnett continued, claiming that a firm can track it's web statistics by using Google Analytics.

However, he warned businesses to follow Google's code of conduct, as otherwise the leading search engine may lower the website's ranking.

The Washington Post and Forbes magazine have had their page ranking lowered by Google, following news that both sites have been selling links.
