New websites looking to maximise their search engine rankings from the outset must focus on how they use the right keywords, an expert has advised.
Adding plenty of keyword modifiers, looking to long tail terms and moving away from commercial key phrases can all help to boost search engine optimisation (SEO) for new sites from the beginning, according to Aaron Wall, author of the SEO Book.
Purchasing traffic and spreading different keywords throughout page titles and headings may also be of use to SEO marketers, he remarked on the Search Engine Land blog.
Mr Wall advised: "If you build high quality niche content and it does not rank as well as you would like it to then you need to actively market it.
"Mention it to a couple [of] popular bloggers in your space and ask them what they think of it."
Speaking to USA Today, Google engineer Matt Cutts recently warned marketers against making too much use of keywords, as this can lead to sites being blacklisted by the search engine.
