Hiring a search engine optimisation (SEO) expert is preferable to doing it yourself, it has been claimed.
According to the American Chronicle: "You should know that learning and using SEO yourself is time consuming. Hiring an SEO guru might be better for you."
However, whether hired or DIY, SEO is a "great idea", it added, claiming that keywords are the best method to improving search rankings.
The news source explained that publishing industry-related articles on a website is an effective way of optimising a website, especially when a link to the home page is included in the text.
When employing an SEO expert, it claimed the most important decision for a business to make is how much return on their investment they want.
Cost-effective routes to successful SEO are available, it continued, commenting that it is essential to choose the best method for each firm.
A study by Microsoft adCentre found that 62 per cent of small and medium-sized businesses have a website but do not promote themselves online.
The firm states that this is effectively wasting £3 billion on websites which are not visible to consumers searching for their brand.
