Companies will become more at ease with search engine marketing and search engine optimisation this year, it has been claimed.
Making his comments on a Bizcommunity.com blog, Evan Milton, strategy director at digital solutions firm Stonewall+, explained that during 2008 firms are likely to become more knowledgeable with internet ad budget.
He added that industry expertise is set to grow with more firms bidding for the most popular keywords and niched terms.
Mr Milton also said that he expects local searches to see a healthy growth this year, although not enough to tackle the big search engines such as Google
"The field remains open for niched searches and 2008 is likely to see a sprinkling of new products and service-targeted offerings, with the wiser ones also incorporating social media and/or subscription models," he added.
He also predicted that mobile search will see a slight increase in popularity this year although it is still early days for the market.
Kent Lewis, president of search marketing network SRMpdx, recently announced on his Search Marketing Standard blog that the main focus for firms, brands and celebrities this year will be their online reputation.
