Size is not important when it comes to establishing a successful web presence, claims MediaCo.
According to the web publishing and marketing company, whatever their size, businesses with no online presence face "grave danger".
"Competitors who are online are likely to gain a stronger share of the market as more customers use the internet to source products or services," explained managing director David Mill.
He advised that there are various strategies open to firms to boost an online presence, such as advertising the website address on company stationary or vehicles.
Businesses should seek specialist advice for email marketing and search engine optimisation, he claimed, suggesting techniques such as pay-per-click advertising can have immediate benefits for businesses.
Following an announcement by the Federation of Small Businenesses in August that four-fifths of Britain's small businesses sold their products or services over the internet, the BBC claimed that half of small to medium-sized companies do not have any online presence.
