Online ad revenue rises again

13th November 2007

Profits from internet advertising increased by 25 per cent in the third quarter of 2007, revealed a new report.

Returns totalled around $5.2 billion (£2.5 billion), according to the data from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The total revenue for 2007 so far has now reached $15.2 billion, an increase of 26 per cent compared to the same period of 2006.

"The continued robust growth of the industry indicates that marketers increasingly understand and appreciate the benefits of interactive advertising," said AIB chief executive Randall Rothenberg.

He added that advertising companies of all sizes are acknowledging digital media is the "fulcrum of any marketing strategy".

Peter Petrusky, director of PricewaterhouseCoopers suggested that the robustness of the industry could be attributed to the continuous growth of new platforms such as mobile, social media, broadband video and many other "exciting new venues" for advertisers.

News Corp predicts it will make around $1 billion from internet advertising alone this fiscal year.
