Google executives are frustrated with the company's mobile search results, reports Investors Business Daily (IBD).
According to IBD, Google chief executive Eric Schmidt said: "Our mobile searches are increasing rapidly compared to a year ago, they are growing more quickly than non-mobile searches. [However] they are still a very small percentage of total searches, which is of great frustration to us."
Greg Sterling, head of research company Sterling Market Intelligence, told the news provider that there seems to be a sense of urgency on behalf of Google to be at the forefront of the mobile search industry. He explained that the market is too small to have produced any ranking as yet.
Google has signed contracts with various mobile firms such as Vodafone and T-Mobile USA to be the sole search engine for searches through their handsets.
According to web research firm eMarketer, online advertising spending on mobile phones will grow from $1.5 billion (£731 million) in 2006 to $13.9 billion in 2011.
