Search engine Yahoo! has announced that it will be joining forces with social networking website Bebo in an advertising deal.
The search engine will in future be responsible for selling most of the advertising space on the Bebo site, according to Associated Press.
Social networking sites have caused problems for Yahoo! as they have taken away much of its traditional advertiser base, the news agency claims.
As a result, the search engine is reportedly keen to boost the advertising revenue it makes through other sites.
"This exclusive partnership is the next step of our ongoing strategy to build the largest and most effective online advertising network," Toby Coppel, managing director of Yahoo Europe, told the news provider.
Yahoo! has never previously supplied advertising to Bebo or any other social networking site.
According to internet research outfit Hitwise, Bebo is the third most popular social networking site on the internet.
