A new online centre dedicated to offering tips and advice to search engine marketers has been unveiled.
Developed by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and its Search Council, the Search Help Centre makes use of information provided by Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft to offer an insight into sales practices and policies for each of these search engines.
Users of the resource can also gain information on hot search issues such as trademarks, privacy and intellectual property rights, as well as advice on looking for the most appropriate search agency.
Guy Phillipson, chief executive of the IAB, commented: "It is a giant leap forward in the education process to help marketers make informed decisions about a relatively new form of marketing which places so much responsibility on the advertisers themselves."
The issue of trademarks in search marketing has come to the fore in recent times following a decision by Google to change its policy relating to keywords containing trademarked terms.
According to Hitwise, some of the biggest British online brands have upped their spending on paid search significantly to combat this policy amendment.
