News sections can be a good search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy, a new report claims.
According to E-consultancy, the most important thing to consider when looking to maximise SEO through industry information feeds is the quality of the content.
News should convey a sense of passion, insight and expertise, rather than just being "churned out" by a bored employee who resents the task, the article states.
Site developers are advised to follow the example of bloggers by embracing competitors as friends rather than foes, perhaps linking to them or at least attempting to draw them to the site's news section for updates on industry movements.
However, customer readers could potentially be the most lucrative and sites should attempt to build an authoritative, consumer-facing news feed to attract as many potential clients as possible, the publication states.
It asserts: "The benefits of writing news are traffic, links, mindshare, branding and increased rankings in Google. Achieving these without human readers is almost impossible."
Last week saw The Customer Respect Group highlight accessibility as a key way in which sites can increase profits.
