Social media 'increases search ranking'

4th January 2008

Combining social media and search engine optimisation is a wise strategy in building a firm's online reputation, it has been claimed.

Commenting on online magazine netimperative, Tino Triste, a social media optimisation consultant, said that the two can easily be implemented into an organic and pay-per-click campaign.

He recommended that brands use social media such as networking sites and blogs to boost search engine rankings, explaining that relevant content and increased links will improve web traffic.

Content must be frequently updated in order to secure a regular audience and high ranking, Mr Triste added.

"By monitoring the market and predicting what the next Facebook is, you can stay one step ahead of your competitors and maybe reach the Holy Grail - Google, Yahoo! and MSN's top spot," he concluded.

Utopia Web Solutions has advised companies that it is important that internet users searching for their product or service can reach the firm's website with as few clicks as possible.
