News Corp to launch ad network

27th November 2007

News Corp has announced plans to start an internet advertising network.

According to Reuters, Fox Interactive Media (FIM) is launching FIM Serve to sell advertising across the whole company, having been initially created for social networking site MySpace.

President of FIM Peter Levinsohn told the news provider that the move could happen during the first six months of 2008 and that the new network could eventually sell advertising across the wireless industry.

"We're well down the path in terms of discussions with some of the other News Corp properties to do ad serving," he said.

According to Mr Levinsohn, the new network will not affect the company's partnership with search engine Google as it will focus on graphical display advertising.

News Corp recently announced a $1.05 billion (£507 million) income during the third quarter of 2007, a 23 per cent increase on the $851 million during the same period the previous year.
