Is not possible to ignore 301 redirects (rebrandings), what if you decide to change the domain name for a 5 - 10 years old site, rebranding. The web is a business not a joke, ignoring redirects is like ignoring the past, the history.

Folks should just get with the program and update their stuff.
Leaving old links out there because there is a redirect mechanism
available is just plain lazy. And if they re-google they would find the
new page anyways. It's time to leave the old behind and say goodbye.

Great post! I think it's imperative for search engines to recognize a server side solution as indication that the URL of page has changed. I find it hard to believe that suddenly 301 Redirects do not pass any SEO weight.

It's strange that they don't pass on any link juice. Take an offline example. You've got a great, successful shop, so you move to a new building. Should that change of address mean a drop in your brand's percieved authority or trustworthiness?

I don't think it should.
