Twitter Shows Off New Mobile Interface

twitter-mobileTwitter has recently released a new version of their mobile website. Previously http//m.twitter.com, Twitter has now released a much improved http://mobile.twitter.com which looks much more visually impressive.

The new mobile website works best with phones that support webkit browsers such as the iphone and Android. The main reason for the revamp of mobile Twitter is so that the website looks and feels like Twitter, which the ‘m’ website did not do. (more…)

The week we have finally seen some concrete developments from Microsoft and Google with regard to the Holy Grail that is real time search. At the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco last week, both companies have shed some light on their plans.

There have been many rumours flying around recently regarding the development of real time search but now, during the opening days of the 2009 Web 2.0 summit, both Microsoft and Google have opened up. (more…)

WARNING: Twitter worm on the loose

Twitter has become the victim of another worm in the past day or so. This isn’t the first worm to exploit Twitter with the ‘mikeyy’ worm attacking the popular social website earlier this year. While the ‘mikeyy’ worm was more a nuisance than a malicious attack, the new worm is here to steal your Twitter login details and further ‘infect’ the website. The good news is, Twitter is aware and is working on it.

So what exactly makes this new worm so meticulous?

The worm sends out direct messages (known as DMs) containing a link to replica of the Twitter website. The DM acts as a persuasion tactic along the lines of “Have you seen this…” inducing you to login to the replica website. By doing this, the hackers are able to steal your login details. (more…)

Kids Actually Enjoy Twitter

You may have plenty of recent articles telling you that Teenagers and Kids hate using Twitter and it isn’t worth their time due to the likes of Facebook. Well, over at Business Insider’s ‘Chart of the Day’, they have found out the opposite. Kids DO like Twitter.

Twitter users were generically in the age category of 25-34. Earlier this year, users aged 55+ then took to the social media platform and saw the largest percentage increases in sign-ups across Twitter and Facebook.

Now, it seems users aged 12-24 have dramatically increased from around the mid-70 score to a score of 121 – 100 showing the perfect proportion of users using Twitter compared to their overall activity across the web. (more…)
