I had the privilege of speaking on the panel at one of the lunch time events for Leeds Digital Festival at the end of October.

‘Designing for Digital’ saw a number of  leading designers and Creative Directors (I don’t include myself in this list) from some of the top Leeds agencies (but I do include Epiphany in this list) , web teams and freelancers. Mobiles to Help Boost E-commerce Sales This Christmas

This Christmas online sales in the UK are predicted to reach a record £7.75 billion, a 14% increase compared to December 2010. Purchases made on mobile phones are expected to contribute to a much higher proportion of these sales than ever before.

Last year, mobile phone traffic to retailers websites accounted for 5.6% of all traffic and this year it is expected to be in the region of 15%. This figure tallies up with the fact that 14% of all Google search queries come from a mobile device.  In light of this predicted increase, eBay has even revised their 2011 mobile sales estimates of worldwide sales from $4bn to $5bn. Keeping up to date with the Google Freshness Update

For a long time Google has been trying to overcome the issues of a stale index. Query Deserves Freshness (QDF) was implemented to cover breaking / topical news and Google Caffeine was specifically designed to provide quicker indexation of new and more varied content.
